Wit is a one-act play written by American playwright Margaret Edson that won the 1999 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the New York Drama Critics’ Circle award for “Best New Play”. The action follows the final hours of Dr. Vivian Bearing, a university professor of English, who is dying of ovarian cancer. She reflects on her life through the intricacies of language, in particular the use of wit in the metaphysical poetry of John Donne. The play is equally hard and beautiful…not to be missed by lovers of poetry, language, life and the theatrical blending of all three.
