The Crucible is a story of teenage infatuations, adultery, redemption and witches. Set against the backdrop of the Salem Witch Trials of 1692, Arthur Miller uses his characters to explain the turmoil and anger he felt after personal relationships were tested when the House UnAmerican Committee targeted the Film and Stage communities for their political beliefs. This story stands as a warning today just as it did when it premiered on January 22nd, 1953.
